Voyaging to somewhere - sailing adventures on Stebin

We are Guy and Deb and we are becoming long distance sailors on Stebin

Stebin is a 35ft steel sailing yacht to a Denis Ganley Design - a Shadow 34

The boat name means "Steel Built in Newcastle". She is a little over 35ft (10.7m) and about 11ft beam (3.3m).

She was partly built on the banks of the river Tyne near Newcastle. We bought  the unfinished project and proceeded to 'undo' then rebuild so we built almost the entire boat, barring the hull itself

We have long wanted to go to sea and made ambitious plans for a complete westabouts circumnavigation of the earth via the oceans, using the ancient routes around the southern tips of the South American and African continents.

We prepared Stebin for our long distance voyaging and tailored her to our specific needs.  The hull construction, keel and deck are very much of the original Denis Ganley design but we had our own take on the layout inside.

She has a low coach roof profile and an interior meant to help the crew stay in place in a rolling sea.

Where is the boat now?
