Voyaging to somewhere - sailing adventures on Stebin

WHO ARE WE?

Guy and Deborah

We are a jovial English married couple, not in possession of a fortune, but with a zeal to live a life less ordinary and do a little bit more with our  skills and desires than study, work, retire.

We have been a "team" since we were teenage students with only a 150cc scooter for transport but our personalities and ways of approach are more 'complementary' than matching. We've lived and worked in many countries, have had cats, dogs, houses and hobbies.  Now we are ready to be sailors and explorers.

We will slowly make our way through the oceans at about 5 miles an hour, anchoring where we can and engaging with local communities, culture and wildlife. We hope to create photographs and film of what we find - an insight into the less-travelled parts of the world, rather than bikinis and sunsets. In any case, Guy has not consented to wearing the bikini.

Stepping away from the security of reasonable careers and a bricks and mortar home may seem a little "crazy" but we want to be without constraints. The most dangerous thing on a boat is a schedule.

Between us we have a background in engineering, solutions architecture, problem-solving, project management and languages. We are well-travelled and versed in cultures other than our own and have grown more courageous about taking up challenges in our travels.
Deborah (Indiana)

Skipper

Started dinghy sailing at 12 years old, enjoyed it through her teens, put the boat away when she went to university and then started sailing again in her late 30’s by racing 20ft dinghies and then a Hobie 16 catamaran.

Deborah writes this page and is known to many as Indiana

Guy

Ship's Engineer

Former amateur champion motorcycle racer and engineer, forced to sail the Hobie “deathtrap” in his late 30’s and gently coerced into the building of the boat and the sailing life.

Guy prefers fishing, really.
